Teaching and Learning

Our School has a SEND department, which is staffed by 9 learning support assistants led by our SENDCo (Special Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator). The SEND team and the SEND Co work to maximise the learning opportunities of those students with SEND.

Our team has many specialist skills and interests such as KS3 maths intervention, Handwriting and Dyspraxia Support, Catch-Up literacy, Accelerated Reader, Duke of Edinburgh, expeditions and Social and Emotional Literacy (SEAL) Interventions.

Our SENDCo, alongside the School’s Leadership Team, is responsible for the management of provision of identified students with SEND. The SENDCo also works alongside teachers to ensure these students receive Quality First Teaching and to monitor those who may be experiencing some difficulty with learning so they may be correctly identified and supported.

Ultimately, all our teachers are teachers of SEND and we aim to provide ‘Quality First Teaching’ for all students, irrespective of their ability.
