Sixth Form News

Project Peru is an expedition carried out annually by 30 Sixth Form students and staff from St John's School, Bishop Auckland and which began in 2009. Each year we work in partnership with the local community to carry out a building project and to date we have built classrooms, food kitchens, a bakery for training young people as well as facilities for people with disabilities.

We are proud to congratulate all our students on achieving another fantastic set of results with an overall pass rate of 99%!

We are very proud of all our students  who have achieved a brilliant set of results. It is incredible to see that a quarter of all entries achieved an A* and almost half of all our students achieved two A*-B grade qualifications. Gerard Moran, Head Teacher and Lisa Byron, Head of School  

In a new category which recognises advanced vocational exams, state schools including Archbishop Holgate’s School, in York, St John’s School and Sixth Form College in Bishop Auckland, Carmel College in Darlington and St Bede’s Catholic Comprehensive School in Peterlee were among schools featured in the top 100.
Matt Dunn, director of sixth form at St John’s, described his school’s position as 17th in the country for advanced vocational exams as “outstanding".

Following on from our best ever year of results in Sixth Form, I am delighted to welcome you to our Open Evening. With a variety of A-Level and vocational courses available, we aim to be an inclusive Sixth Form which caters for individual student needs now and in the future. We offer a strong pastoral support system that  underpins academic success, coupled with a positive working environment that creates a Sixth Form educational experience we hope will suit you.

St John's is celebrating record results for the fourth time in the last five years. Students have exceeded our expectations again to achieve the following overall results:

99.4% Pass Rate

St John's has announced the opening of a Rugby Academy which will launch in September 2013. This exciting new venture will enable talented athletes to combine elite rugby performance with academic study.
