Year 8 Footballers win the District 8-a-side Tournament
Year 8 Football won the District 8-a-side Tournament on Saturday. The boys didn't concede a goal all morning, and considering the no-offside rule it made defending very tricky. Zach Hemming was confident throughout, the nearest he came to conceding a goal was from a penalty in the final. The boys came out of a tricky group beating Parkside (3-0), Ferryhill (3-0), Sedgefield (1-0) and Durham Johnston 2 (1-0). The bulk of the goals were scored by Bailey Prudhoe and Aidan Crooks. The boys overcame a strong physical challenge in their Semi-final beating Whitworth Park 1-0. This brought them to face Durham Johnston 1 in the final. Bailey Prudhoe opened the scoring, and after a scare from a missed penalty St John's wrapped up the win with another goal from Bailey, and a third from Cameron Hall-Brown. St John's now hold all of the District Football trophies in Year 7,8 and 9!
