St John's students were superb on Friday when representing Durham in the International Youth Games. A total of 11 countries took part. All of the St John's students won at least 1 gold medal, winning about 15 medals between them in total.
Zigi Shipper, the Polish Holocaust survivor who recently met and spoke to the England Euro 2012 football squad ahead of their European Championship campaign, came to St John’s for a second time to meet our students in May 2012.
A group of 4 year 10 students have won a North-East competition run by Newcastle University. Pupils had to identify a problem or issue connected to the marine environment that interests them and devise a research solution to this problem. The competition was open to 14-19 year olds, and the year 10 team of Emma Dodds, James Pirie, Sophie Peat and Laura Allison were ranked first with their project about Phytoplankton and climate change.
