Year 7 visit to Nissan
On Tuesday 6th October, 30 year 7s travelled to the Nissan production plant in Washington to see the Nissan Leaf being made. The electric car was on the production line and for the first part of the morning students were given a tour of the workshop floor. We got to see many parts of the production process including windscreens being fitted by robots, brake testing and checking the finished cars for being waterproof in a giant carwash.
After the tour we took part in several activities aimed at discovering the different types of engineering involved in the design and production of cars. Students took part in an engineering challenge where there were several tasks that required completing in a set time. These included engineering quiz questions, building a tower from limited materials and a comprehension exercise. All our students rose to the challenge and showed their ability to work well as a team.
After the visit the students were enthusiastic about what they had seen with one even expressing that he would like to work at the Nissan plant in the future.
