We are pleased to inform you that the costs of transport to St John’s will not be increased from September 2016. The pricing structure will remain the same as the previous year.
The catchment area of St John’s extends beyond Bishop Auckland and surrounding areas, covering an area similar to the size of Greater Manchester. This presents us with significant geographical and financial challenges to ensure that every student has transport to and from St John’s.
Although we underwrite the cost of every contracted bus and run our own minibuses, to keep within our budget, we do need to ask you to contribute financially for each journey. The standard daily rate will continue to be £2.70 and, once again, we are committed to providing subsidies to families on a means-tested basis, dependent upon household income.
Please refer to the enclosed form that details the available discounted fares for 2016/2017. There is a further subsidy available if you have a second or third child in your family travelling to St John’s. To be considered for the subsidy, please complete the form and return it to Cynthia Swindells at Student Reception with the requested evidence of income by the deadline 8 June.
