Strike Letter 30th November

Ref. FON/VH

24 November 2011

Dear Parent/Carer,

You may be aware that a number of Trade Unions are in dispute with The Government over proposed changes to pension schemes. Consequently we have been informed that after balloting their members the following unions will be taking strike action on the 30th November:

ATL (Teachers and Support Staff)
NASUWT (Teachers)
NUT (Teachers)
UNISON (Support Staff)
GMB (Support Staff)

In light of this information and after careful consideration we have decided that

The School will be closed to all students
on Wednesday 30th November.

In reaching this decision we have considered carefully the implications of the strike action on our ability to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, as well as ensuring that they receive a meaningful learning experience. We have been helped in this risk assessment by the co-operation of colleagues who have informed us of their intentions at an early stage.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we believe that this closure for students is necessary for the reasons stated above.

Yours sincerely,

 Gerard Moran      Frank O'Neill
 Executive Principal      Principal
