Budding sculptors from Years 7 and 8 attended the official opening of the FebFest Exhibition at the McGuinness Gallery in Bishop Auckland Town Hall on 11 February.  Their sculpture, "Illuminated", evokes the art of the Anglo-Saxons and reflects their journey, with guidance from Mr Nugent, from initial research through to the creation of an Anglo-Saxon Cross.  Their artwork is to be exhibited alongside the Lindisfarne Gospels when they come to Durham later this year!  The Community Exhibition

A Sixth Form student, Leah Birkett, has organised a "Prom Fair" to raise money for Project Peru 2013. The event is free and for further information you can contact John Birkett on 07765181603.  

7J were lucky enough to receive a visit from Durham University's Lindisfarne Gospels team during their RE lesson on Thursday 24th January.

The Students were able to handle an exact copy of the gospels and learnt about the rich history and intriguing images that lie within the book.

Following the presentation, students prepared their own modern interpretations of the covers of the four gospels which can be seen in the staff room.

Below are the amended rehearsal times for the lead up to the production. It is vital that all cast members attend the correct rehearsals, or let Miss Kirkwood know if they are unable to.

The rescheduled private view for the Durham Cathedral “Gospel Stories” Art Exhibition is Thursday 31st 2013 6.15pm-7.30pm.

Dear Parent/Carer,We are fortunate to have been given access to a workshop for our students, investigating areas of Emotional Wellbeing and Stress Management.  As part of our on-going monitoring and mentoring programme, some of our Year 10 and 11 students will be participating in this workshop.  Issues such as stress management, organising workload and dealing with anxiety leading up to examinations, as well as issues relating to self-esteem, will be covered in the workshop.

2013 will bring many challenges and the "Digital Leaders" program will give students the chance to inspire and lead their peers and teachers at St John's. This will involve working alongside students, teachers​ and technicians to develop resources and deliver training. We will be looking at using the iPads and their apps and many of our current software applications. This will offer you the chance to have some input on our school network, VLE and website.
