Year 8 Football Success

Before half term the Year 8s travelled to Parkside on a very wet and windy Friday night to play the League Cup Final against the host side. Despite the difficult conditions, St John’s started well and some excellent link up play created several early chances. St John’s scored the opening goal, with some strong running from Adam Dobson on the right, exchanging passes with James Hardy and leaving a simple tap in at the back post for Aidan Crooks. The score remained 1-0 up to half time, with St John’s keeping all the possession but unable to build on their early lead. The second half was a different matter with Jamie Redfearn drifting into the box from the left and scoring twice with two neat finishes. Parkside scored the goal of the game from the edge of the box but had left it too late to come back. The year 8 side finshed as champions and completed the quadruple; adding the League Cup to their League, 8-a-Side Cup and TUC County Cup success. Myself and Mr Mangles would like to congratulate the whole squad for an excellent season. We expect them to match this achievement next season!
