Ski Trip 2012 Malnitz, Autria

Students and staff returned from a fantastic and memorable week skiing in Malnitz, Austria. There were over 40 skiiers of varying abilities and each and everyone enjoyed the delightful and challenging slopes of Malnitz. Skiing in the largest snow fall Austria has had in years, the skiiers from Year 8 to Year 12, were able to develop their ski skills and enjoy the apres ski too!

The beginner skiiers enjoyed the "Blue" slopes and were very eager to get their skis into more challenging slopes. One of our skiiers, Ryan Currah, managed to move from the beginners group to the advanced group by the end of the week, which is a fantastic achievement. Other skiiers, including Mr Willis, struggled to contend with the slippery slopes and spent a lot of the week sitting on the snow! The advanced skiiers and boarders,  including Charlie Frankcom and Alice Brown, managed to make their way up to the top of the slopes and enjoyed the challenge and thrill of a few "Black" runs. Dominic Salmon worked on his backwards skiing again, which has turned into his party trick on recent ski trips, (although most of the time he doesn't mean it).

The apres ski involved many memorable moments, including some fantastic karaoke from Mr Smith and Jonathan Payne. The most memoarble performance was delivered by the Year 8 boys, who were note perfect in their rendition of a Kings of Leon number and attracted the attention of some German students. The staff were the clear victors in the curling competition and Mr Adair should have been crowned the "Disco King" of Malnitz for his sheer enthusiasm alone.

St John's have cetainly made an impression on the quiet, Austrian town and students were exceptional, with the ski instructors, bus drivers and Ski Reps complementing them througout the trip.
