International Futsal

On Sunday 9th June Miss Somers, Mr Rhodes and Mr D Smith took the Year 7 boys to the International Futsal at Northumbria University. After becoming Northern Champions the boys year 7 Futsal team were selected to be the mascots. The boys accompanied the players onto the pitch at the start of the matches for the National Anthems and then watched the games. The first game was a close encounter between Poland and the USA which the USA won. After the game the USA keeper was generous and gave away his signed gloves, water bottles and his shoes. The second game saw England draw with Malaysia. The boys attitude, behaviour and enthusiasm was a credit to St John's and their chanting and singing was the loudest in the stadium. After the game the boys met some of the England players who thanked them for their support. It was a great day for all involved and we are excited to see Futsal continue to develop in the future at St John's.
