Awards Evening 2012

The celebration of work at both A level and GCSE at St John’s is always an evening well spent. The Awards evening was complimented by our external speakers. It was marvellous to hear Dave Ford, the former director of Achievement Services in County Durham, speak so sincerely at the depth of talent and achievements reached by our students.  This warmth was shared by Debbie Flood, triple world champion and Olympic silver medallist in the 2004 and 2008 games. She inspired a packed audience in the Fred Wilson Hall with her energy and drive; many were enthused by her words and couldn’t resist having their photograph taken with an Olympian.

One of the messages offered by Debbie Flood, that resonates even a few weeks later, was her dedication and commitment to the cause. It was clear that even with exceptional talent, real success needs to be earned; and what a feeling when it pays off. Every student in the hall couldn’t help but feel humbled in such a presence.

The Awards Evening itself remains a stark reminder to the profundity offered from both our speakers and the amazing talent that emanates around the room. The future is filled with hope.
