Come & find out about St John's A-Level and vocational courses in a warm and friendly environment.



A group of 25 Sixth Form students and staff returned this week after an amazing two weeks in Iquitos, Peru working alongside Joe Plumb and The Peru Mission. The group assisted with the building of dining facilities in a local school and led workshops and activities at a children’s centre.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Take the chance to try out the subjects you have selected for study. Talk further to teachers and find out more about the content of the course in assisting you in making your own personal curriculum.

These two days offer an opportunity to experience A Level and BTEC Level 3 lessons as part of a process that helps us, together, make informed decisions on which might be the most suitable and effective courses for you in September.

Year 12 and 13 Pilgrimage Walk from Finchale Abbey to Durham Cathedral

Year 12 students are holding a Charity Christmas fair on 13th December for all students from year 7-10. The nominated charities the Year 12 students have chosen are Cancer research and Project Peru.
  • Quarter of all A level grades are A*-A
  • Half of all level 3 course grades were A*-B or equivalent
  • 56% of A level course grades were A*-B grades
  • 100% pass rate for all A level and vocational courses
  • 64% for General level courses (H&SC, Bus, IT, Sport) achieved Distinction */Distinction
  • 45% for technical  level courses (Engineering, Travel & Tourism) achieved Distinction */Distinction

Project Peru is an expedition carried out annually by 30 Sixth Form students and staff from St John's School, Bishop Auckland and which began in 2009. Each year we work in partnership with the local community to carry out a building project and to date we have built classrooms, food kitchens, a bakery for training young people as well as facilities for people with disabilities.
