‘We Killed the Bass Player’ and ‘The Snakes’ @ the Youth Village

Charlie Frankcom and Mark Hyatt formed ‘We Killed the Bass Player’ in late 2010 and since then they have been performing gigs in the local area. Their music is influenced by bands such as Green Day, The Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, The Specials and many more. ‘We Killed the Bass Player’ perform a wide variety of songs in different styles ranging from Punk, Ska, Indie and Grunge. The band also write their own material and are currently working on an E.P which will be available at their gigs. All members of the band are students of St John’s Catholic School in Bishop Auckland. ‘Snakes’ are a four piece alternative rock band who have been together for 9 months and the band currently consists of Joe Gallagher (drums), Callum Merrington (bass), Chris Gooch (lead guitar) and Josh Hoggart (lead vocalist/guitar). The band gigs regularly in venues across county Durham, performing a wide selection of music including some of their own material. They have recently recorded their first EP which consists entirely of original songs and they are currently working on new material for an upcoming album. All members are currently Sixth Form students of St John’s Catholic School in Bishop Auckland.

Both bands recently represented the school by performing at a welcome event for the arrival of the International Junior Olympic Athletes. The event was organised by Durham County Music Service and for the 300 athletes at the Youth Village in Consett on 13th June 12.
