Dear Parent/Carer

This letter is to remind you that St John’s is closed to students on Friday 28 November 2014. This is a scheduled closure, as indicated in the school calendar and is due to staff training commitments.

Since 1990, more than 113 million boys and girls, in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts collected from local churches and schools

An exhibition created by the students of St John's School and Sixth Form College, A Catholic Academy to mark the centenary of the First World War.

A letter will be sent home tomorrow, Tuesday 24 November, with students about the opening of the “Parent Portal Shop”, where you can browse and purchase the Apple products outlined in our previous letter.

A FIRST World War exhibition has proved so popular a school is making it into a film to provide a lasting legacy for years to come.

Pupils from St John’s School and Sixth Form College, in Bishop Auckland spent weeks into the run up to Remembrance Sunday learning about all different aspects of the war.

PUPILS have shed light on all aspects of the First World War as they mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the conflict.

Inspired by the VanGoYourself website we sent a group of Year 9 pupils to the magnificent Bowes Museum in County Durham. Watch their film as they recreate some famous works of art.

The competition was challenging with approximately 14 schools entered so St John's performed exceptionally well. Results below:
Overall Result:
Year 7 boys = 2nd
Year 8 boys = 2nd

We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity where students and families can lease/purchase an iPad through St John's. If you are interested in this scheme, please complete this simple form, which will allow us to ensure that the most suitable devices and packages are available for you.

Once again St John's will be collecting and packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Please send all completed shoeboxes to the LRC by Wednesday 19th November, ready for collection the next day.
