Another year's committed fundraising culminated in Project Peru 2010 in which a group of 25 Sixth Form students and 5 staff joined Joe Plumb to work in some of the most deprived areas of Lima's shanty towns.

It gives me great pleasure to attach the report on the Catholic Life of St John's Catholic School & Sixth Form Centre and Curriculum Religious Education, following the Diocesan Inspection which took place on 8 & 9 June 2010.

Yet again, you will see that the school achieved an outstanding report which reflects the strong partnership which exists between home, school and parish.

This Summer term has been a time of great celebrations here at St John's. On 25 May 2010, following two days of rigorous inspection by the Ofsted team, the school was proclaimed as 'An Outstanding School'.

 

Arts Council England has awarded an Artsmark Gold Award to St John's in recognition of the school’s commitment to, and excellence in, Arts Education.

The school has been involved in a pilot Arts based scheme called the 'Cultural Hub' which involved a budget of over £20,000 resulting in the provision of a wide variety of Arts-based activities.

On 13 July the Science Department at St John's underwent a Local Authority Inspection and are delighted to report yet another outstanding judgement.

As you may know we have organised a Year 11 Prom to celebrate the end of the main examination period and to reward the Year 11 students for all of their hard work and effort with coursework and revision. The Prom will be held at Hallgarth Manor, Pittington, County Durham on Friday, 2 July 2010 (7.00 - 11.30pm).
